  • Getting Daily Exercise

    When it comes to someone's health, there is nothing more important than that. The trick though is making sure that you get everything in one day that you need to stay healthy and happy. thus far, we have talked about starting a diet and changing around things in your life to reduce stress. Sometimes that will not be enough as not everyone can make a lot of changes to their life without it drastically impacting a variety of things. Thus, we return to how can you start into something that will help you keep fit without giving up too much of anything in your life. While there is a target of 30 minutes a day, that is simply a suggestion. What is important is using your muscles and engaging in activities that help you live a longer and healthier life.

    Accessories:
    Wrist/Ankle Weights - These can easily be found at most sporting goods stores. They generally range in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs, occasionally you can find something heavier.

    Bicycle - An older fashioned mode of transit. Still, even in a busy place like San Francisco or San Diego, you will still see people getting around on one. This is a good option for those who do not live too far from work or a frequented location. There are a number of other options as well, such as a Skateboard, Roller Blades, Razors and others.

    Work Attire/Deodorant - Sometimes you will break out in a good sweat. It never really pays to show up without at least a spare set of clothes for your work time.

    Exercise at Work
    Some of us get stuck inside without much reprieve for most of the day. Still it is very possible to do something about this. After you have something to eat and drink on your lunch break, go for a quick walk. This could also mean walking to a different place that is within walking distance for you to get lunch. if you have the weights mentioned above, you can always keep them in your locker and you could wear them for the duration of your walk to and from where you eat. This gives you a chance to get a quick work out without any real time sacrifice.

    If you are stuck at a desk the whole day, just having the weights can help. While they are meant to be attached to you, they still have weight. Take a short break at a point during the day and do some curls or butterflies with them. It is a great way to get some stress out of your system and it will do you physical good as well. It can also help anyone who has a bit of a block in their day where they cannot figure out what to do next. Taking your mind off something for a minute is not a bad way to figure out what to do next.

    Getting to/from Places
    While this is not always feasible because of a number of conditions (time, distance and weather mainly) it is very helpful for those with serious time issues. If you can make it to work without going on the freeway and it is within a few miles of where you live, it is possible for you to bicycle there. While it is faster and sometimes easier to catch the bus or drive there, it is better to use a Bicycle or another mode of transit. Things like this help you as you must manage your time better to get from one place to the other without being late. When you begin trying to get to work using a Bicycle, be sure to give yourself more than ample time. How much time is that? To start, go with about four times the amount of time it would take to drive there (or about half again the time it takes to take a bus there). Why that much? When you just begin you will not be used to handling something like this and it takes time to build the endurance that will eventually carry you all the way from home to work.

    Make Arrangements with Friends
    Having someone to work out with or do something with is a great incentive to keep at something. It is important that you keep your focus with you are engaged in your exercise, it is also important to do something where you can keep at it. Having a good exercise routine is fine if you only go through it once in a while but it becomes much better for you if you do so more regularly. Having a partner to work out with is something that can help you a lot. It will give you better drive to stay with your program and it also opens a few new doors. With a friend, especially if you two get together in a Gym, there is a chance for you to do things that would require a spotter.

    An alternative use of this is to have a ride back to your house (or somewhere close to it) on the days that you get to work without the bus/car. Sometimes the day just drains you too much for it to really be an option for you to bike back home. This could make the day a bit better in ways as you will not have to worry about something.
