  • Snacking Healthy

    Perhaps the most important part of maintaining any good diet or healthy lifestyle is to change what you eat. This does extend so far as to how you snack on things. Snacks can be minor indulgences but it is important to keep your goal in mind while you choose you snacks. You do not have to give up everything in pursuit of a healthy diet but you need to know and understand what is better for you.

    Snacking
    Have a good variety of light snacks around that you can choose from. This could be a variety of fruits (both fresh and dried), granola bars, vegetables, some cereal, or any number of things. Even when you are eating healthier, remember that moderation is still key to keep control of your snacking.
    Some great examples would be steamed edamame, carrot sticks with peanut butter or hummus, dried apricots, apples, pineapple, nuts, bananas, popcorn (just watch out for trans fat), cottage cheese, whole grain crackers, cherry tomatoes and 100 calorie snack bags.

    Drinks
    Especially now, there is a great variety of things you can have when you get thirsty. While soda is a great thing to drink, it is best to drink it occasionally. Here, there are a number of things you can have that will do more for you than Soda could dream of.
    You would want to stock a variety of teas that you can choose from, the best would be herbal, green or white for their minimal caffeine content, water (with or without some citrus juice added), fruit juice (or some smoothies), vegetable juice, and protein or fiber drinks.
