When it comes to working out, it is important to remember that there is always more than just your muscles that need to be stretched out at the end of it. Anyone who has taken Martial Arts classes will note that at the start and at the end of the class, you take a minute or two simply to reflect, meditate if you will. This is a key part to not only getting into better shape physically, but helps improve your mood and overall health.
The idea behind it is to take a moment and let your body process what it has done. It also affords you a chance to not only catch your breath but enjoy the feeling of having just engaged in moderate to heavy physical activity. This is also a good time for some goal setting as you are more in tune with your mind than usual. If there has been an activity you are having trouble with, envision it in your mind and see yourself doing it. It is a very powerful tool to apply to any goal.
This idea does not only apply to after work outs. This can also help with stress relief. the focus changes from the present day and time to the future in those cases. It is important to drive your thoughts away from the matter frustrating you so you can get a bit of peace for a moment. More often than not, you may find the answer when you come back to the problem after a break from it. If nothing else, think about the solutions to the problem, do not let yourself get fixated on just that.
In the end, with the right mental work out, you will see a difference in just your outlook on life. Remember, this is about thinking positive and being constructive about yourself. Compliment yourself but be sure to temper yourself as well. Keeping a balance between how well you do something with what needs to improve will help you see progress even better.
