Holidays are supposed to be great fun. Almost everyone out there is seen eagerly waiting for the holiday season so that they can unwind themselves, and have a merry time with their loved ones. Despite all the joy and happiness associated with holidays, one can’t defy the fact that we end up getting so stressed and overwhelmed that the joy almost vanishes from our lives. Let’s have a look at the culprits over here and how one can deal with them.
We all know that holidays involve a lot of spending, so one needs to set a realistic budget to keep away from the mounting pressure of overspending on unwanted things. Despite being aware of the fact that the purchased item isn’t worth the hard earned money, we give way to the pressure and overspend during holidays. Goes without saying, your best bet to deal with such situations is to set a budget and stick to it.
Most hosts strive hard to please their guests. Not only do they go past their budget, but also invite loads of anxiety and stress in an attempt to impress their guests. Even after being a recipient of truckloads of praises for the efforts, one ends up feeling stressed for forgetting to serve a particular dish. You simply find yourself incapable to get past that thought. Such anxiety can be extremely detrimental as it’s completely self-inflicted.
One needs to rest such behavior in order to enjoy their holiday and to be able to make the most of their time. Besides this, some individuals experience a feeling of strong guilt for not being able to invite some of their close relatives due to reasons best known to them. It’s only when things run out of hands, they realize that they should have been a little more organized in life.
Holidays come with a deadline. Most people are seen resorting to last minute shopping, cooking, make-up and so on to catch up with things. It’s important that one avoids such last minute pitfalls to stay away from unwanted holiday stress. A good 5 minute breathing exercise, meditation, yoga etc are good means to stay relaxed during holidays.
