How to deal with Hidden Stress
Published on 11-02-2010 03:38 PM
Too much is being talked about stress and its negative consequences. Today, most of us easily fall prey to stressful situations because more than often the odds are not in our favor. Stress can erupt out of hundreds of reasons and some stress related factors are hidden in nature. Let’s talk about it now:
Not everyone out there is blessed with a good looking face. Yet, we all know how important it is for one to look good all the time in this image conscious society. The fact that we can do very little to improve our external appearance can kill the steam out of our lives. To add insult to injury, some individuals are seen being so obsessed with their appearance that they end up leading a stressful life because of the way they think about themselves. While good appearance demands more respect in the society, bad appearance should not serve as a factor for disappointment. One needs to realize that more than the appearance, the accomplishment and virtues of an individual matters the most.
If you constantly ponder about what others are thinking about your appearance, then you will end up creating a perfect recipe for stress in your life. No matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to please everyone out there. After all, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”. A quick look at the mirror can be disappointing not because of your appearance, but because of your thinking. Focus on your other goodies, and you will be fine!
Remember, no person in this world is perfect. Each one of us has certain flaws. Instead of focusing on the negatives, one should try to eradicate the flaws or work on their strengths. Beauty and other distracting factors are temporary, and one should not kill their time with these self pitying acts. Besides this, bad posture can also serve as a reason for hidden stress. Bad posture can invite strained neck, muscles and other health issues. Also, a posture of an individual says a lot about the person, so make sure that you maintain good posture while performing any activity. Competitive sports and work environment can also result into stress. While little bit of stress is good to maintain the competitive spirit, one needs to make sure that they don’t overwork themselves in order to keep up with the challenges of work and sport.
